Research Assistant in Evidence Synthesis for Climate and Health

Job at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in Greater London, WC1E

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the DESTinY project funded by Wellcome. This project has a mission to build the next generation of evidence synthesis tools for climate change and health research driven by artificial intelligence. The project will co-develop new digital evidence synthesis tools (DESTs) and showcase their transformational power to deliver rigorous living evidence in climate and health that matters to policy makers and other evidence users.

The post-holder will conduct systematic literature reviews and evidence synthesis on a number of topics related to climate change and human health, likely to include food systems and mortality in clinical studies. They will also engage with project partners developing the AI-assisted tools and with evidence users to ensure that the evidence syntheses are fit for purpose and meet user needs.

The post-holder must have a relevant first degree in the field of epidemiology, statistics, public health, environmental science, economics or other discipline clearly related to climate change and human health. Familiarity with evidence synthesis software such as EPPI Reviewer, Rayyan or Covidence is also essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term until 31 December 2028. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is available immediately.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,432-£45,097 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.

Applications should be made on-line via our jobs website. Online applications will be accepted by the automated system until 10pm of the closing date. Any queries regarding the application process may be addressed to jobs@lshtm.ac.uk. Please quote reference EPH-DPH-2025-09.

The supporting statement section should set out how your qualifications, experience and training meet each of the selection criteria. Please provide one or more paragraphs addressing each criterion. An answer to any of the criteria such as "Please see attached CV" will not be considered acceptable.

Please note that if you are shortlisted and are unable to attend on the interview date it may not be possible to offer you an alternative date.
