Job at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in Greater London, WC1E

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated research assistant with a keen interest in the impact of early life exposures across the life course to join our rapidly growing team at LSHTM.

The post-holder will be responsible for conducting and interpreting high-quality research aimed at improving maternal and child health, with support from senior team members and their line manager. We are looking for someone with interest in perinatal epidemiology, particularly in working with large-scale electronic health records (EHR) data, and ideally with strong analytical skills. The post-holder will be expected to apply various analytical methods using EHR data to address research questions. Additionally, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to pursue a staff PhD as part of this project, should they be interested.

The post-holder must have a relevant first degree in the field of Medical Statistics, Health Data Science or Epidemiology and relevant experience in statistics or epidemiology. Relevant analytical skills in generalised linear models and regression-based survival analysis is also essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed-term until 30 April 2027. The post is funded by the Welcome Trust and is available from 01 May 2025.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,182 - £44,847 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.

Applications should be made on-line via our jobs website. Online applications will be accepted by the automated system until 10pm of the closing date. Any queries regarding the application process may be addressed to jobs@lshtm.ac.uk. Please quote reference EPH-EPIH-2025-05.
