The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking an enthusiastic team member, with experience in qualitative research methods and community engagement. The postholder will have an interest in learning new skills and working with colleagues from a range of backgrounds on sexually transmitted infections (STI) in the United Kingdom. The postholder will join a supportive team conducting studies looking at innovative approaches to reduce the burden of morbidity due to Syphilis and other STIs. The postholder will work closely with academic staff at LSHTM and collaborators at The Love Tank, a community organisation focused on improving sexual health in the UK. 

The postholder will be responsible for designing, co-ordinating and facilitating focus group discussions, interviews, discrete choice experiments and other approaches to exploring stakeholder and community perspectives on syphilis control. 

The successful candidate will have a first degree in a relevant field, relevant experience and analytical skills in qualitative methods such as focus group discussions or in-depth interviews and thematic analysis as well as working with collaborators, and proven ability to work with community partners.

It is anticipated they will complete a PhD as part of this post.

The post is fixed term until 30 September 2028 and full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE. The post is funded by the NIHR and is available from 01 October 2025. The salary appointment will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 at £39,432 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). 

The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
