Job at Care UK in Banbury, Oxfordshire

Are you an ambitious chef with a passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences in a dynamic kitchen environment? If you're seeking a role that offers significant growth, a healthy work-life balance, and the opportunity to join a recognized, award-winning catering team, then this Second Chef position at Care UK presents a compelling career opportunity.

Embrace Your Culinary Potential at Care UK

As a Second Chef with Care UK, you'll be an integral part of a collaborative team that thrives on sharing knowledge and elevating culinary standards through innovation and fresh ideas. You'll benefit from an extensive supply chain, granting you the creative freedom to design nutritious and well-balanced menus tailored to diverse needs. This role requires a self-motivated and adaptable individual with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a talent for fostering positive team dynamics and morale within the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities and Impact

This role extends beyond supporting the Head Chef. You will gain valuable experience in kitchen leadership, taking charge in the Head Chef's absence. You'll have the opportunity to utilize modern equipment and local produce to craft delicious, diet-sensitive meals for residents, ensuring they receive both exceptional flavor and vital nutrition. A key aspect of this position involves contributing to menu development, actively consulting with residents to understand and meet their preferences, and preparing meals in accordance with specific dietary requirements. Ultimately, you'll be making a tangible difference in enhancing the lives of others through food.

What You Bring to the Table

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC) and NVQ 2/3 in Practical Cookery.
  • Essential Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Certificates (minimum Level 2).
  • A strong understanding of nutritionally balanced menu planning.
  • Proven experience in catering for specific dietary needs.
  • While not essential, prior experience in a care home setting, stock control, or budget management would be advantageous.

Above all, we are looking for individuals who are driven by a desire to enrich the lives of others and who can thrive in an environment that is both challenging and deeply rewarding.
