If you are passionate about driving innovation, efficiency, and making a tangible impact, this position could be the perfect next step in your career.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Impactful Work: Be at the forefront of a major defence programme, directly influencing the success of critical projects and contributing to a safe and secure world.
  • Early-Stage Involvement: Collaborate with design teams from the outset, embedding manufacturability into product designs and ensuring alignment with key project requirements (safety, quality, cost, delivery, lead-time). This provides a unique opportunity to influence the product lifecycle from inception.
  • Strategic Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve production challenges, developing and documenting robust manufacturing processes. This role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with diverse engineering disciplines and teams, fostering a seamless and efficient manufacturing process. This will broaden your professional network and enhance your collaborative capabilities.
  • Hybrid Working: Enjoy a flexible work arrangement with a hybrid model, typically involving 2-3 days in the office, offering a healthy work-life balance.
  • Career Development: Cavendish Nuclear, part of Babcock International Group, offers excellent development opportunities. Your career could potentially span across global projects within the wider group.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Benefit from an attractive salary coupled with a generous benefits package, including a matched contribution pension scheme, life assurance, access to a Digital GP, employee share scheme, and much more.
  • Professional Growth: The role supports professional development, including the payment of professional fees and opportunities for holiday trading.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Location Flexibility: This role is based at Cavendish Nuclear's sites in Bristol, Newbury, or Warrington, offering a degree of geographical choice.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel (1-2 times per quarter) to other Cavendish Nuclear hubs and client sites is expected, demonstrating the varied nature of the projects.
  • Security Clearance: A critical requirement for this role is the ability to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. This is a standard process for roles within defence and requires careful consideration.
  • Essential Experience: Candidates should possess demonstrated expertise in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies and hands-on experience in design for manufacturability, ideally from the early stages of the production lifecycle. Experience in highly regulated or high-volume manufacturing sectors is highly valued.
  • Educational Background: A Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related technical discipline is a prerequisite for this position.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: Cavendish Nuclear is a disability confident committed employer and actively encourages an inclusive culture. They are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.

This Senior Manufacturing Engineer position is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals looking to make a significant contribution to critical national programmes within a supportive and forward-thinking organization. If you meet the essential criteria and are excited by the prospect of shaping the future of engineering excellence, we encourage you to explore this role further.
