The Estates and Facilities Department at the University of Nottingham provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1300 people and provide a wide range of services across our U.K sites.
This is a key role within the Sustainability Team. Sustainability is a key goal within the University Strategy and the post holder will be instrumental in the delivery of this, not only within the department but also wider across the University.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a variety of sustainability projects to positively improve the performance of the University in this area. You will have a significant role in assessing and developing a fresh set of scope 3 carbon emission targets in conjunction with other key stakeholders across the University, support the development of a climate adaptation strategy as well as the maintenance of our department wide Environmental Management System. The successful candidate will work with a range of stakeholders across different departments and across different sites
The post holder will have the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, possess excellent analytical and communication skills. This diverse role gives the opportunity for a dedicated individual to make a significant impact in the area of sustainability.
Candidates should be qualified to Degree level in a relevant environmental subject with some relevant experience in a similar role or have extensive relevant experience in a similar role. You will also have demonstrable experience of environmental management systems and their operations within an organisation and will have knowledge and understanding of government strategy, policy and legislation relating to the field.

Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) worked mainly Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be required. Job share arrangements may be considered.
This post will be offered on a fixed term contract until 28 February 2026. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
