About the Service
The Finance Department at the University of East London plays a key role in managing the University's financial resources to ensure stability, efficiency, and strategic investment in its future, aligned with Vision 2028. We provide a comprehensive range of financial services, including budgeting, financial and tax planning, compliance, and advisory support, ensuring the University operates smoothly. Our responsibilities also include the preparation of annual financial statements, statutory reporting, and regulatory submissions. We work proactively with schools and services staff, and students to offer financial guidance, maintain compliance, and drive value for money across all operations.
About the Job
This role manages, maintains, supports and develops the University’s main finance system (Unit4 ERPx) and supports other integrated finance systems. Working with the Head of Finance Systems, you will help deliver first-class finance systems and services across UEL, improving user experience, financial control and processing efficiency.
You will:
Lead the ownership and ongoing development of Unit4ERPx, promoting best practice use and ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place.Maintain data integrity and effective interfaces across finance systems (including Unit4ERPx, WPM and Proactis), resolving issues and improving data quality with stakeholders and IT.Manage a customer-focused finance systems helpdesk, providing second-line support for complex issues and reducing call volumes through training and process redesign.Develop and deliver effective finance systems training,manualsand SOPs, alongsidemaintainingFinance intranet content to ensure information is current,accurateand user-friendly.About You:
You will be an experienced finance systems professional with strong leadership capability and a proven track record in developing and supporting major financial systems. You will be confident working with stakeholders at all levels and translating complex requirements into practical, compliant solutions.
You will bring:
Degree-level education (or equivalent) and be a qualified accountant or have significant equivalent experience.Substantial leadership experience implementing and developing major financial systems and strategies, with practical experience of a corporate finance system such as Unit4ERPx.Strong experience of systems development, testing and support, including designing and delivering training to users of different seniority, and maintaining customer service standards.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including producing business cases, technical documentation, SOPs and reports, and influencing internal teams and third-party providers to resolve issues effectively.Benefits Package
