We are looking for a fixed term Senior Research Assistant for 6 months to support research associated with the development of 3D printed electrochemical sensors. The proposed study will aid the development of sensors for integration within microfluidic devices.
At present, electrochemical sensors made using 3D printing are resistive in behaviour. This is namely due to the current materials accessible but also due to the printing process itself, which further increases the resistance of the electrodes. Various strategies have been utilised to decrease ohmic resistance, such as consideration of the electrical contact, modification of electrode geometry and exploring the printing parameters. However, limited investigations have explored creative design in electrodes to reduce ohmic resistance.
For this post you must:
Hold a BSc in an aligned subject area associated with engineering or physical sciencesHave experience in using 3D printers and making electrochemical sensorsEvaluation of the developed sensor is an important aspect and you must be willing to support characterisation studies of the probe using electrochemistryPlease note that this is a fixed term position for 6 months and only open to members of staff currently employed at the university.
