What the Role Entails:

As a Service Leader, you will be the primary point of contact for customers within your designated business unit and will oversee Field Operations in your geographical area. Your core responsibility will be to manage all resources effectively to meet branch business targets and ensure unparalleled customer satisfaction. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a significant opportunity for impact and growth.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Resource Management: Optimizing the deployment of service engineers and technicians by meticulously planning personnel needs, route organization, workloads, and training initiatives. You'll ensure the right skills are matched with route requirements and foster a strong team spirit.
  • Portfolio Management: Overseeing the entire maintenance portfolio, from contract acceptance to the final collection of payments, including proactive follow-up actions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Driving repair sales targets and managing chargeable repairs from offer to completion, while diligently controlling costs for non-chargeable repairs.
  • Leadership & Development: Providing strong leadership to engineers and technicians, focusing on customer and employee satisfaction, adding value to the business, ensuring quality of work, and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Proactively managing customer claims and complaints to swift and satisfactory resolutions.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Conducting regular quality and safety audits and inspections to uphold service levels and customer satisfaction, ensuring strict adherence to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Problem Resolution: Identifying and resolving issues with equipment ("sick or rogue units"), supervising repair work, and developing strategic plans for unit recovery.
  • Sales Support: Actively participating in sales lead activities to recover lost business and convert new Schindler products approaching warranty expiration.
  • Employee Growth: Supporting on-the-job training and skill development for employees, including safety training and toolbox talks, in coordination with relevant specialists.
  • Communication & Engagement: Conducting regular team meetings and one-to-one sessions to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess a strong foundation in leadership and operational management:

  • Educational & Experience Requirements: A degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or business discipline is preferred. A proven track record of five to seven years running a service business unit in a related industry is essential.
  • Leadership & Customer Focus: Demonstrable experience in managing the customer interface and a proven track record in a management/leadership role are critical.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience with P&L responsibility is a key requirement, indicating a strong understanding of financial drivers and business performance.
  • Industry Knowledge: While knowledge of the lift industry or Facilities Management is highly desirable, a strong technical and commercial awareness related to these sectors will be advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: SAP experience is considered beneficial.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills are paramount, with a proven ability to build strong networks and relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision Making: Sound decision-making capabilities and excellent problem-solving skills are necessary to navigate the complexities of the role.
  • Attention to Detail & Resilience: Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines are essential.
  • Mobility: A willingness to travel as required is important.
