TSS Support Worker

Job at University of Hull in Hull, Kingston upon Hull, HU6

Academic Services seeks to appoint a number of Campus Inclusion Assistants on a part-time, casual basis as part of our delivery of student support (starting in September 2025).

Student Wellbeing aims to enhance the student experience through the provision of high quality advice, guidance and support, placing service excellence at the core of its activity through a team of highly motivated, professional people. Comprising a variety of professional staff, Student Wellbeing places student achievement and retention at the core of its business and seeks to take a proactive and innovative approach to the activities offered as part of its core business delivery.

Under the direction of Student Wellbeing, supported by a support worker administrator, the Campus Inclusion Assistant will provide practical, academic-related support to students on campus. Roles are varied and include tasks such as mobility support or sighted guidance.  Campus Inclusion Assistants play an important role in creating an accessible and inclusive environment for disabled students, students with health conditions, students who are neurodivergent and those with mental health conditions.  It is a great opportunity to promote inclusion within the student population. Disabled students are more likely to be underrepresented in higher education and can face different barriers to accessing and succeeding in their studies. If you have first-hand experience of studying as a disabled student, your knowledge and lived experience could be beneficial for this role.

The service is fully committed to ensuring all staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake their role as part of a professional, sector-leading service. Staff Development is an integral aspect of supporting staff to deliver services of the highest possible professional standards. The post-holder must be able to deal confidently and effectively with a range of people displaying a professional, non-judgmental and helpful attitude and handling highly confidential matters in a sensitive manner.  Flexibility is also key to the role, as hours are variable.

To discuss this role informally please contact Mrs Clare Omissi, Senior Disability Inclusion Adviser, Student Wellbeing by email at Disabilitysupport@hull.ac.uk

At Hull we are committed to equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion at every level, because we believe a diverse workforce brings broader expertise, improved innovation and greater success for all.

Please note that we are unable to respond to enquiries, accept CVs or applications from Recruitment Agencies.
