The job itself

We are recruiting a Technical Assistant to work within the North Area Highway Maintenance team of the Streetscene Service. You will be based at Market Weighton Depot within a team of four officers responsible for delivering the highway maintenance service for one fifth of the East Riding’ area.This is a front facing post so you will have regular contact with members of the Public and other stakeholders, dealing with their enquiries on the highway maintenance function, primarily Road Closure Applications and traffic signs and lines, so good interpersonal and communication skills are required.You may also have some involvement in Highway Safety Inspections within your designated area, which could involve you working as part of a two person team to ensure the Council meets its statutory obligations.Further training will be provided where necessary including the possibility of access to part time study of a relevant course on a day release basis.You may be required to assist with emergencies and winter maintenance if required out of hours and you should hold a full driving licence.
