Do you have a technical background in sport and exercise sciences and are interested in working in an applied environment where you will be involved in the practical development of students? If so, the School of Psychology, Sport Science and Wellbeing are looking for a Technical Tutor in Sport and Exercise Sciences to join their technical team.
Within this role, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities, primarily focused on supporting practical activities and the smooth running and operation of the Human Performance Centre (HPC). Scope of the role would include; the delivery of practical classes in sport and exercise disciplines (relevant to competency, experience and qualification); supervision of undergraduate students performing independent work; supporting the day-to-day operations of the HPC; managing bookings for equipment and laboratory spaces; laboratory and equipment set-up/take-down/calibration; resource allocation/tracking; health and safety requirements; problem solving/equipment maintenance; assisting with research and consultancy activities. Applications for this role are encouraged from individuals with a broad range of experience/competency within sport and exercise disciplines, however, the school would be particularly interested in applications from those with strengths in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics.
The School of Psychology, Sport Science and Wellbeing was founded in 2024 following a convergence of the School of Sport and Exercise Science and the School of Psychology. The school delivers a number of highly successful undergraduate programmes and has a thriving postgraduate research community. Key priorities within the school are teaching and research, however, the school is ambitious to develop its enterprise, consultancy and external income generation activities. The school provides an excellent practical learning environment for students that is enabled for sport and exercise disciplines through the HPC. Within the HPC there are dedicated laboratory spaces for Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Sports Psychology, Strength and Conditioning, and Sports Therapy.
