This is an exciting opportunity for a person with book binding skills to be part of a team providing technical resource and demonstration to support teaching activities for the Visual Communication subject area within the School of Art and Media.
You will organise, prepare, and deliver technical inductions and demonstration and provide technical resource support for the academic needs of students and staff. You will also ensure that safe codes of practice are maintained, and current Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to in order to make your work area a safe place for staff, students and visitors
To be effective in this role, you will need:
The ability to demonstrate a wide range of book binding techniques, including Single section, zig-zag, Multi-section, Coptic, Case Binding The ability to operate and maintain hand guillotines, block choppers, operate power guillotines and other book binding machineryThe ability to explain complex information in an understandable way to a variety of audiencesThe ability to maintain tools and machinery within maintenance schedules.This is a 6-month fixed term part time contract of 22 hours a week. This job is suitable for job sharing.
