  • Identifying and pursuing commercialisation opportunities, including the creation of spinouts, licensing agreements, and collaborative projects.
  • Securing new funding to fuel innovation-led growth.
  • Crucially, delivering tangible outcomes from the University's flagship Enterprise Engineering and Optics Centre (EEOC) project, translating intellectual property and research into real-world benefits for industry, society, and the regional economy.
  • Contributing to the success of external funding initiatives such as Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and SMART Partnership projects to expand the University's commercial portfolio and forge robust industry relationships.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the University to guide academics, researchers, and students through innovation-to-commercialisation pathways.
  • Fostering a vibrant culture of entrepreneurship, knowledge transfer, and knowledge exchange, and building enduring partnerships with external organisations.

This role offers a significant platform for professional growth and impact:

  • Strategic Impact: You will be at the forefront of driving innovation and commercialisation, directly contributing to the University's mission and the regional economy.
  • Exposure to Flagship Projects: Leading the delivery of outcomes from the EEOC project provides invaluable experience in high-profile innovation initiatives.
  • Diverse Commercialization Pathways: Gain hands-on experience in spinouts, licensing, and collaborative projects, broadening your commercialisation expertise.
  • Partnership Development: Build and nurture strong relationships with industry partners, essential for career advancement in the innovation sector.
  • Entrepreneurial Culture: Contribute to and experience a university environment that champions entrepreneurship and knowledge exchange.
  • Skill Development: Enhance your skills in funding acquisition, project management, intellectual property management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: The position includes excellent holiday and pension schemes, alongside a competitive salary of £41,064 to £44,745 per annum.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

To thrive in this role, candidates should consider the following:

  • Fixed-Term Contract: The 18-month duration requires a candidate who is motivated to deliver significant impact within this timeframe and potentially seeks to leverage this experience for future opportunities.

  • Proactive and Strategic Mindset: The role demands initiative in identifying opportunities and a strategic approach to managing diverse commercialisation activities.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Working effectively with academics, researchers, students, and external partners is crucial for success.
  • Passion for Innovation: A genuine interest in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer will be a key driver for engagement and success.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious professional looking to make a tangible difference in the landscape of university-industry collaboration and innovation. If you are passionate about driving commercial success from academic research and have a knack for building impactful partnerships, we encourage you to explore this exciting prospect.
