Understanding the Opportunity: MRO Overhaul Base Manager (UK)

This full-time role, based in Derby, UK, presents a significant opportunity within Aftermarket Off-Wing Operations. As an MRO Overhaul Base Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping and influencing the growth trajectory of our global overhaul and repair network. The position demands a highly driven individual with a broad scope of responsibilities and high visibility across the organisation. You will be instrumental in leveraging data, systems, and stakeholder management to drive tangible improvements in efficiency and performance across our extended network.

Reporting to the VP of MRO, this leadership position is central to enhancing the operational performance of MRO suppliers and Joint Ventures. A key focus will be aligning performance with SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) demands, supporting volume ramp-ups, meeting product capability requirements, and reducing Turnaround Time (TRT). This role serves as a critical interface for the global Aftermarket organisation and will collaborate with regional Overhaul Base Managers (OBMs) to achieve key deliverables.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Strategic Impact: This role offers the chance to directly influence and shape the future of a vital business area, driving real change and contributing to global Aftermarket growth.
  • High Visibility: With a broad scope and significant cross-functional interaction, your contributions will be recognised and valued at senior levels.
  • Leadership Development: As a leadership position, it provides a platform to hone your management and strategic decision-making skills in a complex technical environment.
  • Continuous Learning: Rolls-Royce is committed to investing in your continuous learning and development, offering a wide range of opportunities to expand your expertise and advance your career.
  • Global Exposure: You will engage with a global network of teams, suppliers, and stakeholders, broadening your understanding of international MRO operations.
  • Meaningful Work: Contribute to an organisation that pioneers cutting-edge technologies addressing critical global power needs, ensuring cleaner, safer, and more competitive solutions.
  • Competitive Package: The role offers excellent development, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits, including bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.
  • Flexible Working: Rolls-Royce offers a hybrid working model, allowing for a balance between office, home, and other remote locations, with a minimum expectation of three days per week in the workplace for collaboration.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Technical Proficiency: A strong background in MRO, with a solid understanding of gas turbine maintenance and repair processes, and familiarity with airworthiness regulations, is essential.
  • Operational Expertise: Candidates should possess a robust operational understanding and the ability to coordinate diverse operational activities within a technical setting.
  • Stakeholder Management: The ability to effectively plan and coordinate with multiple business functions, including technical and non-technical teams, and build strong relationships across the organisation is crucial.
  • Problem-Solving Acumen: Demonstrating strategic ability, strong problem-solving skills, and effective decision-making will be key to success in this role.
  • Communication Skills: The capacity to clearly communicate complex technical details and insights to various audiences is a prerequisite.
  • Cultural Alignment: Rolls-Royce values safety, integrity, and making a difference. Candidates should resonate with these principles and demonstrate them through their behaviours.
  • Career Path Alignment: This role is well-suited for individuals looking to advance their careers in MRO leadership, operational excellence, and global supply chain management within the aerospace industry.
