US Consumer Bank Controls Assurance Analyst

Join us at Barclays as a Controls Assurance Analyst. In this Chief Controls Office (CCO) services role, you will be responsible for (in part): leading on the creation of the Control Testing plan, incorporating both mandatory and risk-based testing; completing testing in line with the prevailing Controls Testing methodology; and agreeing and reporting the results of Controls Testing with key stakeholders.

To be successful in the role of a Controls Analyst you should have:

Strong analytical, project/change management, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to resolve issues and work independently as a self‑starter.Ability to consolidate information from multiple sources to produce meaningful insights and high‑quality reporting for stakeholders.Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to engage and collaborate with diverse global stakeholders.Experience working in regulatory/control environments, applying control design and operating effectiveness methodologies while managing multiple priorities.

Some other highly valued skills include:

Proven experience handling principal risk processes or working in Audit, Operational Risk Management, or other risk and control disciplines, with strong knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment.Pro‑active, delivery‑focused approach with the ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.Strong influencing skills, including the ability to guide others without formal authority, supported by clear and effective report‑writing capabilities.Skilled in managing multiple demands while maintaining high performance standards.

This role will be based out of Glasgow.

Purpose of the role

To partner with the bank, to provide independent insurance on control processes and advise on improvements to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the banks internal controls framework.

Accountabilities

Collaboration across the bank to maintain a satisfactory, robust, and efficient control environment through the execution of ad-hoc assessments and testing on the design and operational effectiveness of the internal controls, aligned to control policies and standards.Development of detailed test plans and procedures to identify weaknesses in internal controls and other initiatives aligned to the banks control framework to mitigate any potential risks and issues, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations, potential losses, and reputational impact.Communication of key findings and observations to the relevant stakeholders and business units to improve overall control efficiency and provide corrective actions to senior managers. Collaboration with other control professionals to resolve complex issues and ensure consistent testing methodologies across the bank.Development of a knowledge centre containing detailed documentation of control assessments, testing on design and operational effectiveness of procedures, findings, and the distribution of material on internal controls to train and upskill colleagues within the bank.
