Events at the University of Worcester are a key driver of the University’s growth strategy and play an important role in raising its public profile. This is an exciting opportunity to join the University Arena’s Events Team to deliver all aspects of the event management function at one of the UK’s leading inclusive venues.
The University Arena Events Manager plays a central role in delivering a diverse programme of internal and external events, contributing directly to the University’s reputation, income generation and community engagement.
Reporting to the Arena Operations & Engagement Manager, the postholder will be responsible for maximising sales and bookings by proactively developing new business, building client relationships, and managing all event enquiries from first contact through to completion. With joint responsibility for planning and executing events, the postholder will be the pivotal link to the client, undertaking a range of event coordination and management duties to ensure events are carefully planned, safely managed and expertly delivered. The role includes managing and motivating a team of staff, including Stewards and Event Delivery Managers.
Highly professional, organised, personable and driven, the successful candidate will couple excellent planning skills with the ability to ‘think on your feet’ as events unfold. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
The postholder will work 37 hours per week on a flexible shift pattern (5 of 7 days), including evenings and weekends. Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria).
