This Accommodation Support Officer position presents a compelling opportunity for those passionate about providing essential support and fostering positive change. If you are an empathetic, organised, and driven individual, this role could be an excellent step in your career.

What This Opportunity Offers:

This role focuses on supporting adult males with their housing needs, whether they are currently in custody or residing within the community on license. You will be instrumental in:

  • Conducting Comprehensive Assessments: Working alongside probation practitioners, you'll perform initial assessments to deeply understand each participant's unique needs and circumstances.
  • Developing Tailored Support Plans: Based on your assessments, you will craft personalised accommodation plans, outlining specific interventions to help participants achieve stability.
  • Empowering Participants: A key aspect of this role involves ensuring participants are fully informed about decisions affecting them and understand their rights throughout the process, fostering autonomy and engagement.
  • Building Strong Relationships: You'll leverage your excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective professional relationships with both participants and a range of external stakeholders.
  • Being a Positive Influence: As a role model, you will inspire and encourage positive changes in attitudes and behaviours, contributing to successful reintegration.

Key Advantages for Your Career Growth:

This position offers significant advantages for career development, particularly for those looking to specialise in social support and justice services:

  • Valuable Experience: Gain hands-on experience working within the justice and social care sectors, with a focus on accommodation and reintegration.
  • Skill Development: While transferable skills are appreciated, the organisation is committed to providing comprehensive on-site training and support. This means you can develop your knowledge and skills even if you don't tick every box initially.
  • Person-Centred Approach: You will be part of an organisation that truly prioritises a person-focused service, allowing you to refine your ability to deliver empathetic and effective support.
  • Employee-Owned Culture: As part of an employee-owned organisation, you'll benefit from a strong sense of community and a commitment to shared success.
  • Competitive Package: The role offers a competitive salary starting from £24,650 - £29,000 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience), alongside a generous benefits package including:
    • 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays + Birthday Day off (with the option to purchase additional days)
    • 2 Volunteer Days
    • Pension Scheme (5% Employee, 5% Employer)
    • Healthcare Cash Plan (including 3x salary life assurance)
    • Annual Salary Review
    • Refer a Friend Scheme
    • Access to Benefit Hub for retail discounts and more

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

To thrive in this role, consider the following:

  • Nature of Caseload: You will be working with a specific caseload of adult males, requiring an ability to engage effectively and empathetically with individuals who may have faced significant challenges.
  • Collaboration is Key: Strong partnership working with probation practitioners and other external stakeholders is essential.
  • Organisational Skills: The ability to manage a caseload, produce personalised plans, and maintain accurate records in a timely manner is crucial. Experience with case management systems would be beneficial.
  • Desirable Experience: While not always essential, experience or knowledge related to accommodation legislation or the criminal justice system would be advantageous and can be developed through training.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals is paramount. You will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Part-Time Commitment: This is a part-time role working 18.5 hours per week, which requires effective time management and organisation.

This Accommodation Support Officer role offers a deeply rewarding career path for individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact. If you are ready to contribute to the successful reintegration of individuals into their communities, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
