This apprenticeship program, a collaborative effort between Bombardier and Farnborough College of Technology, is meticulously designed to provide you with invaluable real-world, hands-on experience in a dynamic aerospace engineering setting. Key Program Stages:
- Year 1: Foundation Competence
You will begin with the Aviation Mechanic - Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering (Foundation Competence). This foundational year will involve an initial induction at Farnborough. Please note that for the first four months, this phase may require you to live away from home, providing an immersive learning experience.
- Years 2 & 3: Development and Licensure
These crucial years will see you transition to the Bombardier Service Centre at Biggin Hill Airport. Here, you will pursue the Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Maintenance (Development Competence) and work towards completing your UK CAA Aircraft Maintenance A License qualification through an approved Part 147 Training Organisation.

- Real-World Application: You will return to Bombardier to complete Years 2 and 3 as an aircraft fitter, directly applying your studies to maintain, repair, and modify a variety of Bombardier Business Jet aircraft to the highest safety, time, and budget standards.
Your Contributions to the Team:
As a valuable member of the team, you will play a vital role in:
- Performing scheduled aircraft maintenance and servicing.
- Participating in unscheduled maintenance, including defect rectification across various aircraft systems and components.
- Conducting repairs to airframe structures.
- Executing modifications to aircraft structures, systems, and interiors.
- Assisting with ground equipment operations, aircraft movements, and aircraft deliveries.
How to Thrive in This Role: Key Considerations for Candidates
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, prospective candidates should review the following:
- Academic Foundation: You will need 5 GCSEs predicted or confirmed at Grade 5 or equivalent, specifically including Mathematics, English, and a Science at Grade 5 or above.
- Eligibility: Candidates must not have already completed the same or a similar Level 2 or 3 qualification or apprenticeship.
- Program Commencement: This role is scheduled to commence in September 2025.

Funding Eligibility Criteria:
Please note the following important criteria for program funding:
- You must commit to working at least 30 hours per week.
- You must not be currently enrolled in another funded training program.
- At least 50% of your working hours throughout the apprenticeship must be spent in England.
