Are you passionate about technology and accessibility? The University of Bath is looking for an Assistive Technologist / IT Disability Support Advisor / DSA Assessor to join our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) team. You will help staff and students access technology effectively, ensuring inclusive and accessible digital experiences across the University.
In this role, you will provide friendly, expert support to people with a wide range of needs, including visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments, and neurodivergence. You will assess individual requirements, recommend assistive technologies, deliver training, and support the University in embedding inclusive digital practices.
Key responsibilities:
Provide advice, assessments, and training in assistive technologiesRecommend, configure, and maintain IT equipment, software, and accessibility solutionsDeliver one-to-one support, group workshops, and awareness sessionsMaintain specialist AT hardware and equipment loans, including exam setupsCollaborate across the University to promote digital accessibility and inclusive designInvestigate and resolve AT-related issues, contributing to continuous service improvementMaintain accurate records and support reporting to improve the AT serviceYou will be part of a small, highly specialised team, working independently and collaboratively to deliver a service that makes a real difference to staff and students.
You are an empathetic, confident communicator with experience supporting people with disabilities and a strong understanding of accessibility barriers. You take a patient, practical, solution-focused approach to technology challenges.
You bring:
Expertise in assistive technology, including Dragon, ClaroRead, Read&Write, Genio, MindGenius, EssayWriter, Audio Notetaker, and JAWSStrong general IT knowledge and troubleshooting skillsExperience managing priorities in a busy, customer-focused environmentKnowledge of DSA, Access to Work, DSE, accessibility legislation, and ergonomic solutionsInterest in emerging technologies, including AI tools, with working knowledge of Copilot desirableYou are motivated, organised, and comfortable working independently or as part of a small specialist team, committed to creating accessible, inclusive digital experiences that empower staff and students
This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.
