Opportunity Review: Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Bombardier Biggin Hill

Are you an accomplished Aircraft Maintenance Technician seeking to join a leading force in the business aviation sector? Bombardier's Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill presents a compelling opportunity to advance your career within an award-winning, rapidly expanding network that serves as the flagship of Bombardier's European operations. This is a chance to contribute to the largest Business Aircraft OEM facility in the UK, renowned for its comprehensive maintenance, modification, and upgrade capabilities.

Located a mere 14 miles from central London, the Biggin Hill Service Centre offers an exceptional environment for professionals looking to make a significant impact. This review aims to highlight the advantages and key considerations for potential candidates, guiding you in shaping your career path within this dynamic organization.

Advantages for Your Career Growth:

  • Be Part of a Premier Facility: Join Europe's fastest-growing Service Centre, a critical hub for Bombardier's operations. This offers exposure to cutting-edge technology and a high volume of diverse aircraft.
  • Comprehensive Skill Development: The role demands troubleshooting, inspection, and complex repair of various aircraft systems. This broad scope ensures continuous learning and the honing of a wide range of technical skills.
  • Leadership and Mentorship Potential: With opportunities to supervise mechanics and train other employees, you can develop your leadership capabilities and contribute to the growth of your colleagues.
  • Diverse Project Exposure: From routine maintenance to significant modifications and upgrades, you'll engage in a variety of projects, keeping your work engaging and your expertise sharp.
  • Strategic Location: The proximity to London provides excellent accessibility and a vibrant lifestyle, while the service centre's strategic positioning allows for support of operators across the UK and beyond.
  • Contribution to an Award-Winning Network: Being part of a recognized and successful team provides a strong sense of accomplishment and professional pride.
  • Career Advancement: As a growing facility, there are ample opportunities for internal progression and taking on greater responsibilities within the Bombardier network.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Technicians:

  • Essential Qualifications: A strong foundation is built upon an EASA/CAA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License (B1, B2, and C). Holding Part-147 approved type training, ideally for at least two years, is highly advantageous.
  • Experience Matters: While a minimum of 6 months of relevant experience is noted, demonstrating 3-5 years of Business Jet Line Maintenance experience, particularly on Bombardier aircraft types (Challenger, Global, Learjet), will significantly enhance your candidacy.
  • Regulatory Acumen: A solid understanding of relevant regulations, including Part-M, Part-145, Appendix I to Part-66, and human factors principles (including EWIS and CDCCL), is crucial for ensuring compliance and safety.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: The ability to use your initiative to resolve difficult situations and adapt to changing circumstances is highly valued.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for documenting work, communicating aircraft status, and collaborating with team members and customers.
  • Technical Proficiency: The capability to interpret engineering drawings and utilize information systems (computer skills) is fundamental to performing your duties efficiently.
  • Engine Run Qualification: While preferred, being engine run qualified is a significant asset that demonstrates a higher level of competence and readiness.
  • Commitment to Standards: Adherence to Bombardier's Maintenance Organization Procedures (MOP) and applicable work instructions is paramount to maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

Bombardier is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. They encourage applications from all qualified individuals. This role offers a fantastic platform for professionals who are passionate about aviation maintenance, eager to expand their skill set, and wish to contribute to the success of a world-leading aerospace company.
