Job at Capri Holdings in Greater London

Buyer (FTC) - Menswear - Michael Kors (EMEA)

Michael Kors, a cornerstone of Capri Holdings' esteemed global luxury group, invites talented and globally-minded individuals to explore an exciting opportunity. As a Buyer for Menswear (Fixed-Term Contract) across EMEA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial success of Michael Kors' Ready-to-Wear, Accessories, and Footwear categories. This position offers a dynamic environment for those passionate about fashion and eager to contribute to a leading luxury brand.

The Opportunity

This role is integral to the buying and trading of Menswear across Michael Kors' extensive EMEA presence, encompassing Full Price stores, E-Commerce, and Outlet channels. You will be entrusted with developing product strategies, curating compelling assortments, and driving both sales and margin. This is a hands-on role that requires a blend of strategic vision and commercial acumen, with a direct impact on the customer experience and the brand's financial objectives.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities and Advantages

  • End-to-End Buying Strategy: Take ownership of the complete buying lifecycle for Menswear categories across multiple channels and regions. This offers a broad scope of responsibility and a chance to develop comprehensive category management skills.
  • Commercial Assortment Curation: Craft cohesive and commercially viable assortments that are precisely tailored to individual store profiles, regional nuances, and evolving seasonal trends. This is where your creativity and market insight will truly shine.
  • Strategic and Tactical Balance: Master the art of balancing long-term strategic goals with immediate trading opportunities to maximize sales and profitability. This dynamic approach ensures constant engagement and responsiveness to market shifts.
  • Performance Analysis and Action: Lead weekly and monthly trade meetings, dissecting product performance and financial KPIs. You will be empowered to devise and implement actionable strategies to boost business performance, honing your analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Data-Driven Strategy Development: Prepare insightful seasonal hindsight reports and construct forward-looking strategies grounded in data-driven insights, customer feedback, and market intelligence. This emphasis on analytics will significantly enhance your strategic planning capabilities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with various departments, including Merchandise Planning, Allocation, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Store Operations, ECOM, and Wholesale Merchandising. This collaborative environment fosters a holistic understanding of the business and strengthens your professional network.
  • Global & Local Alignment: Build strong relationships with Global and EMEA Merchandising functions and Global Buying teams to influence product development and ensure local market needs are met. This exposure to global strategies will broaden your perspective.
  • Price Strategy Influence: Liaise with the EMEA Product Merchandising team to shape pricing strategies that drive margin and sales, developing your understanding of retail economics.
  • Market Trend Analysis: Stay ahead of consumer trends and the competitive landscape, using this knowledge to inform crucial product range decisions. This continuous learning is vital for career progression in the fashion industry.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing buying team, fostering a collaborative spirit across departments. This is a fantastic opportunity to cultivate your leadership and mentoring skills.
  • International Exposure: Frequent travel for market appointments and store visits will provide invaluable on-the-ground insights into customer needs and product performance, offering a truly global perspective.

What You'll Bring: Key Considerations for Your Career Path

Michael Kors is seeking a commercially minded individual with a blend of creativity and analytical rigor. While specific experience is valued, a willingness to learn and a passion for fashion are equally important. Consider how your existing skills align with these key attributes:

  • Creative Problem-Solving: The ability to navigate challenges with innovative solutions is paramount in this fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Dynamic and Resilient Mindset: Thriving in a high-energy setting requires adaptability and a proactive approach to change.
  • Previous Buyer-Level Experience: Proven experience in buying roles will provide a strong foundation for success.
  • Menswear Background: Prior experience within the Menswear sector is highly advantageous, allowing for immediate impact.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively is essential for effective collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Computer Literacy & Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, particularly advanced Excel, is critical for success in this role.
  • Prior Management Experience: If you have experience leading a team, this will be a significant asset in developing your leadership capabilities.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: The capacity to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies is fundamental.
  • Strong Commercial Mindset: A keen understanding of sales, margin, and the drivers of commercial success is a must.
