This is a casual worker, term-time only position (up to 275 hours of work available between September 2025 and July 2026).
Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is located on a beautifully green and pleasant campus just a few minutes’ walk from Lincoln Cathedral, Castle, and the old Roman city. Our story began in the 1860s as an Anglican teacher training college for women, which makes us one of the oldest Higher Education Institutions in the UK. Since then, we've grown, adapted, and modernised to become the thriving university we are today. We're still experts in teaching and education, but we've now got a wider portfolio of exciting degree courses than ever before. We currently offer causes in a wide range of subjects, from Undergraduate Degree level to PhD, and much more in between.
We are looking for a very organised and practical person to work as Science Technician, working in a flexible manner on a casual contract during term times. A key part of the role will be to prepare equipment and to support staff in science workshops. You will service PGCE science practicals, prepare and cleardown areas, maintain stock and equipment, including radiation protection. The contract is expected to begin in September 2025.
Knowledge and experience of working in a science laboratory environment will be an advantage, as will a knowledge of relevant Health and Safety practices. The applicant must be flexible to fit in with the working patterns of the science academic staff.
