In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in strengthening Barclays' governance framework, meticulously overseeing risk management processes, and ensuring the effective oversight, escalation, and resolution of economic crime-related issues. Your responsibilities will extend to shaping and delivering critical content for a monthly Risk & Control Oversight meeting, providing essential support and guidance to senior stakeholders and leaders across the organization.

A key aspect of this position involves developing and presenting insightful reports on key metrics and control performance. You will be expected to identify trends, highlight emerging risks, and provide a clear assessment of the overall effectiveness of the control environment. Furthermore, you will establish and lead regular issue management oversight meetings, playing a pivotal role in evaluating, managing, and escalating risk events as necessary. This includes a thorough assessment of the materiality and business impact of issues to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the risk profile.

This role offers a unique chance to drive robust governance, establish clear accountability, and implement effective controls across all Economic Crime functions within Barclays.

Key Skills and Experience for Success:

  • Proven experience in Governance and Control specifically within the Financial Crime domain.
  • A detailed understanding of Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks and the operational aspects of control frameworks like Barclays' or similar, including OneRA, Control Testing, and CERPA.
  • The ability to effectively influence stakeholders by highlighting risks and recommending pragmatic mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to analyze data and present findings using Microsoft Office Suite tools.

While not mandatory, experience with RICM (Risks and Issues Classification Matrix) or similar, and ORAC or similar, would be highly advantageous.

Candidates may be assessed on critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology proficiency, in addition to job-specific technical skills.
