We are looking for experienced applicants with a background of working with a range of students and staff in Higher Education, and a fantastic understanding of student voice activities designed to contribute to the effective quality assurance and enhancement of the learning experience.
As Education Manager, you would be responsible for ensuring that students views on their academic experience are effectively gathered through a range of engagement activities, including the oversight of the Academic Representation system. You would be responsible for supporting and empowering student leaders to make positive changes to their educational experience, including provision of briefings, training, research and strategic support for students attending committees or other representative activities.
You will act as an expert on educational matters for representatives and staff, providing insight and guidance on current issues, identifying emerging issues through networks and research, and ensuring the successful input of student voice across the University. This may take the form of providing briefings, writing reports or papers for committees, undertaking or analysing research, providing training or writing effective communications. As a manager within The SU, the role will also be responsible for building links with other departments, managing budgets, contributing to the development of annual plans, supporting the delivery of The SU strategy, and championing the values and cause of the organisation.
This role has oversight of a number of our political activities including supporting our Student Officers in delivering their manifesto aims, supporting the development and delivery of priority and emerging issues, supporting and empowering our student communities to take action on the issues that students care most about.
We are looking for a candidate who is a confident and experienced communicator, with great people skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and a willingness to get 'stuck in'.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a passion and creativity in relation to student representation and engagement, excellent management skills - both in terms of people and in developing and delivering on strategic planning, the ability to meet deadlines and work effectively within a team. You will also have a strong knowledge of the current challenges with UK Higher Education and the factors that impact students. An excellent understanding of how to navigate sensitive issues and act with diplomacy on behalf of the department is also required.
This role is within the Voice team of the Students' Union, which means you will work closely with student representatives and officers to champion the diverse voices of our student community, with an aim to positively impact the student experience for students from all backgrounds - making the University a more inclusive place. Being a manager as part of the Voice team is an exciting, dynamic, and uniquely rewarding experience.
