The Department
The Finance Department supports the University’s strategy to enhance the student experience by delivering financial sustainability through financial leadership, strategic planning and informed procurement. We ensure the long-term financial sustainably of UWL, maximising efficiency and effectiveness of available resources. The University of West London has won the award for ‘Outstanding Financial Performance’ at ‘The Times Higher Education Awards’ 2019.
The Role
The Group Financial Controller will report into the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the other Group Financial Controller. The post holder will play a key role in direct line managing the accounts team, acting as Line Manager to key personnel within these functions, and providing support/guidance and making improvements/efficiencies where required. They will also be responsible for the resourcing of these functions.
The role will require the individual to play a key part in the preparation of Board Reporting on Investment Policy, Money Market Loan facility, Pensions and Quarterly Management accounts.
The Person
We are seeking a qualified accountant who has extensive experience in preparation of financial statements and delivery of year end audit. They must be experienced in delivering internal audits, being the main point of contact.
Experience in management teams to deliver work on time is essential as well as their own attention to detail needing to be of an exceptional standard.
