Drive Digital Transformation at East Midlands Railway

Are you an experienced IT Project Manager looking for that next step? Do you thrive on leading complex technology projects that enhance business operations and customer experience? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is seeking a Lead IT Project Manager to drive digital transformation and IT infrastructure improvements. You’ll take ownership of medium-to-high complexity IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget while aligning with our long-term digital strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Leading and delivering complex IT and digital transformation projects that enhance EMR’s operations and services.Managing project governance and ensuring compliance with IT frameworks, security standards, and EMR processes.Developing and presenting technology-driven business cases to programme boards.Proactively identifying and mitigating IT-related risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.Ensuring projects adhere to cybersecurity, regulatory, and contractual IT requirements.Overseeing IT resource planning, vendor management, and third-party service providers.Driving adoption of new technologies, cloud solutions, and digital tools to improve business performance.Managing IT budgets, forecasting costs, and ensuring effective financial oversight.Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including IT teams, data specialists, and business leaders, to maximise project success.Supporting IT change management strategies to ensure smooth transition and business adoption.Deputising for the Programme Manager when required.

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in leading complex IT projects within a regulated environment.Strong leadership skills with experience in IT project team management.Degree-level education or equivalent experience.A recognised Project Management qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent) and willingness to work towards further certification.Ability to think strategically to drive IT innovation and continuous improvement.Experience working with cloud platforms, enterprise IT systems, and digital transformation initiatives.Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills, up to executive and IT leadership level.Extensive experience in IT budget management, vendor negotiations, and cost control.Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, IT compliance, and risk management.
