Infrastructure Manager

Job at Westinghouse Electric in Preston, Lancashire

An Opportunity to Shape the Future of Nuclear Energy Infrastructure at Westinghouse

Westinghouse Electric Company is at the forefront of nuclear energy innovation, seeking a dynamic and experienced Infrastructure Manager to join their mission of shaping the power of tomorrow. This role presents a significant opportunity for professionals looking to leverage their expertise in a critical national infrastructure sector, contributing to the safe and secure operation of nuclear facilities.

This is more than just a technical role; it's a chance to be an "intelligent customer," directly influencing the strategic direction of IT and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure. Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of complex systems, including data centers, networks, servers, storage, and cloud platforms.

Advantages for Potential Candidates:

  • Impactful Work: Play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and reliability of nuclear facilities, a vital component of national energy infrastructure.
  • Innovation and Growth: Be part of an organization where innovation is deeply ingrained. You'll have the opportunity to reimagine possibilities and implement cutting-edge solutions.
  • Career Development: Westinghouse offers a supportive environment with learning and development opportunities, encouraging employees to reach their personal and professional goals.
  • Leadership Opportunity: Lead and mentor a high-performing infrastructure team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: The company provides attractive remuneration and a suite of benefits designed for employee convenience and safety, including life insurance and a DC Pension plan.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Specialized Sector: This role requires extensive background managing complex IT infrastructure within regulated or critical national infrastructure sectors. Familiarity with UK nuclear industry standards, ONR regulations, NICSP, NCSC guidance, and relevant cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001/IEC 62443) is essential.
  • On-Site Presence: The position is based at the Springfields Fuel Site, and an on-site presence is a requirement.
  • Technical Depth: You will need in-depth knowledge of data centre operations, networking, virtualisation, storage solutions, and cloud technologies (Azure/AWS). Experience with safety-critical systems and their infrastructure's role in site safety and resilience is highly valued.
  • Security Focus: A strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and their application to infrastructure is paramount, with responsibilities including implementing secure-by-design principles, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Project Management: The role involves managing infrastructure projects, including budget control and risk management, requiring a strong project management skillset and potentially certifications like TOGAF or ITIL.

If you are a seasoned Infrastructure Manager with a passion for critical infrastructure and a commitment to security and innovation, this role at Westinghouse offers a unique platform to advance your career and contribute to a vital industry.
