We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Lead Project Manager / Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of key improvements across East Midlands Railway. You will use strong project management practices and EMR processes to ensure the successful execution of medium- to high-complexity projects, delivering on time, within scope, and on budget. You will also collaborate closely with fellow Project Managers, Engineers, Fleet Depot teams, business units, and the Project Management Office to drive successful project outcomes.
What else you’ll be involved in:
Develop and deliver Fleet projects aligned to the EMR long-term strategy; ensuring delivery to agreed time, scope and quality requirements with a clear benefits realisation plan.Manage the governance of the assigned Fleet projects, working in collaboration with the PMO team to ensure compliance to the EMR project life cycle, including the completion of project documentation to a robust, consistent and high quality standard.Develop the project managers as required to maintain a high overall documentation standard for the programme. Identify and implement continuous improvements and best practice by working with the PMO to deploy across the portfolio.Evaluate project Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies as they arise, driving forward resolution planning and escalating to programme manager.Ensure appropriate business change management plans are in line with assessment of Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependency, consulting with all impacted stakeholders as required.Manage, recruit, and develop the project management team, managing resource requirements for internal and external stakeholder / contractor to enable success. Actively manage, track and report on the projects’ progress against approved project budget, ensuring accurate financial management across the project and robust forward forecasting.Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable successful project delivery to maximise opportunities and drive efficiencies.Manage the project closure process, inclusive of a robust handover to BAU and the completion of accurate project close reporting.What we need from you:
Line management experience or ability to demonstrate leading and developing people in a complex environment would be advantageous.Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. PM Qualification (ideally APM PMQ / Prince 2) or equivalent experience preferably in a Railway / Fleet environment. Willing to work towards Chartered status (APM PPQ)Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with project stakeholders including facilitation of workshops.Experience of managing and presenting accurate reports and documentation including strategic direction, themes and complexities as well as appropriate escalation management in line with governance requirements.Project Management experience of high complexity projects throughout the project lifecycle preferably in a regulatory environment. Experience of using Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependency management to identify trends and interdependencies associated across multiple projects.
