Master and Reference Data Strategy Manager: An Opportunity to Lead

The Master and Reference Data Strategy Manager role is central to the strategic evolution and adoption of Master and Reference Data, working in close partnership with the Data Governance team. Your primary objective will be to champion the creation, maintenance, and widespread adoption of unified, consistently defined, and fit-for-purpose enterprise-wide Master and Reference Data domains. This position also involves key responsibilities in staff management, including resource allocation and team project oversight.

What You'll Achieve:

  • End-to-End Project Management: Lead reference data initiatives from conception through implementation, encompassing requirements gathering, analysis, and seamless collaboration with technology and operations teams.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Act as a key liaison across the enterprise to ensure robust alignment with Citi's Data Standards and strategic objectives.
  • Data Insights and Analysis: Analyze data models to uncover patterns, identify inconsistencies across sources, and surface critical themes for improvement.
  • Data Lifecycle Stewardship: Review and engage in data cleanup efforts, meticulously tracking how data is captured, stored, and consumed.
  • Process Optimization: Evaluate and enhance Business As Usual (BAU) data management processes across the entire data lifecycle, including documentation, testing, validation, maintenance, and change management.
  • External Data Integration: Research external authoritative sources of reference data and manage updates to existing data sets, collaborating with information owners and technology partners.
  • Governance and Compliance: Track adherence to Master and Reference Data governance requirements and facilitate the resolution of issues related to data use and quality.
  • Performance Measurement: Partner with stakeholders to define success criteria, develop supporting metrics, and build impactful visualizations and analytics to showcase progress.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Domain Expertise is Valued: While experience in banking or finance is preferred, the role particularly seeks Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in master and reference data, with a specific emphasis on Securities and Pricing across various asset classes.
  • Proven Implementation Experience: Demonstrable experience within a master and reference data function at a financial institution, specifically involving collaboration with Business, Technology, and Operations for solution design and implementation, is crucial.
  • Strategic Thinking with Detail Orientation: The ability to independently problem-solve, see the bigger picture, and maintain a high level of attention to critical details will be instrumental to your success.
  • Strong Communication and Collaboration: Excellent project management, risk-based thinking, and analytical skills are essential. You'll need to communicate effectively, build rapport, and work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Technical Foundation: Proficiency in basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is expected.
