We have an exciting opportunity to join #TeamEMR as a Materials and Logistics Manager.

In this role, you’ll manage materials locations at Etches Park Depot and Eastcroft Depot, ensuring the timely availability of parts to support rolling stock maintenance and production. You will oversee a safe, compliant, and professionally operated stores facility, maintaining the highest operational standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.

Using LEAN manufacturing principles, you’ll implement and maintain efficient warehousing and lineside two-bin systems to optimise material flow, support production reliability, and enhance overall efficiency.

Your key responsibilities include:

Leadership & Team Management: Provide strategic leadership and operational support to Stores teams at Etches Park and Eastcroft, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient service delivery. Oversee personnel management, training, competency, and adherence to HR policies, while acting as deputy for the Stores Team Leader when required.Compliance & Process Oversight: Drive continuous improvement in purchasing, inventory, and fuel management processes. Ensure all facilities maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance, with robust systems for tracking and accountability of materials.Supplier & Contract Management: Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to manage supplier relationships, ensure contractual compliance, and identify opportunities for sourcing efficiency, availability, and resilience. Oversee fuel provision and supplier performance across the EMR estate.Inventory & Asset Control: Conduct stocktakes, audits, and inventory checks to maintain accurate records and optimal material availability. Manage third-party spares, vehicle repair materials, and depot outstation stock to prevent service disruptions. Forecast and plan for future material needs in alignment with production schedules.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Planning, Production, Commercial, Technical, Finance, and Procurement teams to ensure material availability aligns with operational priorities, maintenance schedules, budgets, and regulatory requirements.Systems & Financial Control: Maintain accurate data in the Fleet Management System (FMS) and generate reports to support planning, operational oversight, and KPI monitoring. Use insights to drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.

What we are looking for:

Qualified to HNC/Degree level or CIPS equivalentProficient in Microsoft OfficeProven leadership and people management skillsExcellent presentation and communication skillsStrong experience collaborating with internal teams and suppliersSkilled in business and supplier relationship managementStrong understanding and application of LEAN principles
