The Scope

As part of the Media, Networks and Applications Product team, you would own BT’s Video Compression Solutions for UK and global media customers, managing the Coding & Multiplex portfolio.

As the broadcast industry shifts to OTT delivery, investigate and develop, and where appropriate transition into products, solutions for Coding & Packaging for OTT workflows.

Once you have settled into the role you may have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, laying the foundation to one day step into line management.

What you’ll be doing
Managing a complex product portfolio with niche customer base, focusing on coding, multiplexing, and packaging services for broadcast customers. Owning the product plan, pricing strategy, development budget, product P&L and roadmap. This includes establishing and monitoring relevant milestones. Developing relationships with decision makers and subject matter experts within the Media & Broadcast industry. Taking part in ad hoc travel to trade shows and UK based customer visits. Supporting Sales and Technical Consultants in responding to bid requests and forming. RFP responses Managing key suppliers, performance metrics and cost controls. Owning the business case for new developments and the P & L for existing product & solution.
Experience/Skills needed to be successful in the role:
Broadcast/Media industry expertise – Having worked for a leading Media & Broadcast provider or manufacturer. Product management - Experience managing the end-to-end lifecycle of new market launches and in the life maintenance/development of existing product portfolios. May also suit a Product Owner looking to expand their commercial understanding. Commercial acumen - Strong financial literacy and the ability to develop and present a business case, pricing strategy and lead vendor contract and commercial negotiations. Technical understanding – Of video compression techniques, coding, multiplexing and streaming technologies. Although you do not need to be hands-on technical delivery expert but will be comfortable communicating with both suppliers and technical architects who come from R&D and engineering backgrounds. Stakeholder management – Proven history of engaging and influencing a wide variety of stakeholders both externally (Suppliers) and internally at the highest level (C suite/Director Level). This also includes networking to form strong relationships.
