An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Programme Lead within the Defence Naval business based in Bristol. The Naval Programme Lead will play an important role in ensuring Naval systems are capable of meeting both current and future programmes requirements. What you will be doing: You will be directly responsible for the day-to-day Programme Management of Naval systems, spanning across MT30, WR21 and Spey engines with the ability to lead projects in time-sensitive scenarios. The role will have fiscal responsibility for management of revenue, margin and cash. While the financial value will vary dependant on where the programme sits in the lifecycle, these programmes typically generate annual revenue of ~£10-20m per programme. The customer base is centred on shipyards. The Programme Lead will support the Programme Manager and act as the as the Naval Point of Contact for issues impacting multiple customers and provide delivery oversight for a broad range of equipment types; some of which is sourced from overseas Due to the nature of the challenges, this role will involve reporting and escalating to multiple stakeholders within the business and externally, requiring robust organisation skills in addition to tact & diplomacy. Accountable for supporting the current capability of Naval systems ensuring they are maintained across all the current customer programmes. This includes management of the budgets for product change, obsolescence, and future programmes. Working closely with the Engineering functions and the supply chain to maintain commonality across the programmes where possible to increase efficiency. Responsible for managing the integrated multi-function programme team across business functions to deliver contract requirements: Ensure cost, schedule and requirements for all assigned Work Packages including development activity, product supply and contractual deliverables. Provide key internal customer interface (particularly with Engineering & Supply Chain) on assigned programmes including ownership for issues, concerns and solutions. Responsible for managing the integrated multi-function programme team across business functions to deliver contract requirements. Provide interface with Defence PMO and lead activities to roll out tools and processes to ensure our Project Management Plans are robust and executable. Ensure our PMO tools and PM required documentation (as described in ARIS, S9) are robust and to standard. This will include (but not limited to PMP, PILM, BEF etc Position qualifications: Robust Programme Management skills focussed on processes and principles (inc cost & schedule management, work breakdown structure definition, customer/contract requirements &deliverables, risk management, resource planning etc) The ability to work across functions internally while tactfully managing the internal & external key stakeholder relationships. Be able to demonstrate technical problem-solving abilities. Developing improvement plans to address key risks and issues working with the wider organisation to execute. General technical knowledge/appreciation would be advantageous. Profit & Loss accountability for assigned Naval Projects including involvement with contract development, product supply, delivery and customer satisfaction. Drive a structured approach to implement standardised Naval Governance â to monitor portfolio and programme health while focussed on continuous improvement.
