This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organized individual to play a pivotal role in advancing glycoscience research at both European and national levels. The successful candidate will manage and support two significant networks: the European GLYCOCALYX Marie Skłodowska Curie Doctoral Network (MSCA DN) and the national UK-P/G Academy BBSRC Network. This role offers a chance to contribute to cutting-edge research, foster scientific talent, and shape the future of glycoscience.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Cross-Continental Collaboration: Gain invaluable experience working with a European network (GLYCOCALYX) and a national network (UK-P/G Academy), fostering international collaboration and understanding of diverse research landscapes.
  • Career Development within Academia: This role offers a direct pathway to working within a dynamic academic environment, supporting high-profile research initiatives and engaging with leading researchers.
  • Exposure to Diverse Scientific Fields: The GLYCOCALYX network specifically trains Doctoral Candidates across biology, chemistry, and physics, providing exposure to interdisciplinary approaches within glycoscience.
  • Skill Development: You will hone your project management, organizational, and communication skills while liaising with multiple stakeholders, including partner institutes and the EU. The role also involves supporting training events, placements, and conferences, offering broad professional development.
  • Flexible Working: The university is open to discussing flexible working arrangements, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Educational and Professional Background: A degree in science, engineering, business, or project management is required. Crucially, a strong understanding of the research and technology sector and demonstrable experience in managing similar academic projects at the EU or UK scale are essential.
  • Passion for Science and Education: A genuine passion for science communication and student education will be a significant asset, enabling you to effectively support and promote the network's objectives.
  • Visa Sponsorship Opportunities: The role may be suitable for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route, with potential eligibility under the Global Talent visa for research and academic posts. Candidates are encouraged to review the relevant government guidelines for further details.
  • Strategic Role: This is a strategic position that requires proactive engagement and the ability to facilitate smooth operations across complex networks. You will be supporting coordinators and partners to deliver key objectives.
  • Location: The position is based on the university campus, offering a dedicated and collaborative working environment.
