To provide exceptional front of house service, ensuring all students, staff, visitors and callers experience a warm and professional welcome.
Uphold a high standard of customer care whilst managing enquiries promptly and accurately.
Creating and maintaining positive internal and external relationships with students and staff.
Work with management to achieve the university's goals and objectives.
Reporting to the Reception and Switchboard supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality reception services with a strong emphasis on customer care.
You will act as the first point of contact for customers, ensuring efficient and effective interactions on every occasion. A well organised approach to workloads is essential to maintain smooth operations, while continuously striving to enhance student satisfaction.
Assisting in various administrative tasks, providing support to the Switchboard as needed, and fostering productive working relationships across departments.
Proactively deal with and report, any issues of concern from staff or students.
Present a smart and professional appearance and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with proven experience in a receptionist or similar role.
They will be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks efficiently. Educated to GCSE level (Grades A-C), the candidate will also demonstrate a solid track record in customer service and enquiry handling roles
Experience in addressing customer enquiries with sensitivity and empathy is essential, along with excellent oral communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
To have knowledge working with Microsoft applications such as word, PowerPoint and Excel.
To be able to work in a fast past environment whilst remaining calm and respectful.
Have a proven track record in similar receptionist roles. Additional customer service care training would be an advantage.
The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
