Leadership & Management Development Practitioner (8-month Fixed Term)
Birmingham City University is seeking an experienced and passionate practitioner to deliver high-quality management development training to Academic and Professional Services line managers.
Job Purpose
We are looking for a confident, credible leadership and management development specialist to design and deliver face-to-face learning for managers across the University. You will bring both theoretical understanding and practical experience of leadership development within Higher Education, ensuring our managers are equipped to lead engaged, high-performing teams. This is an 8-month fixed-term contract, ideal for someone who thrives on enabling others to grow, build capability, and support positive organisational culture.

Deliver engaging, evidence-based leadership and management development workshops.Facilitate team development sessions to support collaboration, communication, and team effectiveness.Work closely with Academic and Professional Services colleagues to understand development needs and tailor learning accordingly.Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of line management development .Support a culture of learning, curiosity, and people-focused leadership across the University.Essential Criteria
Proven experience in managing or leading teams within Higher Education or a similarly complex organisational environment.Practical understanding of how leadership development supports organisational performance, culture, and engagement.Demonstrable experience delivering leadership and management development interventions.Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across Academic and Professional Services.Confident user of Office 365 and MS Teams.Closing Date: 05 Jan 2026
