The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking an early-career social epidemiologist with proven experience leading participatory research with adolescent girls and vulnerable children specifically in Southeast Asia. This role requires proven experience in methods for training and working with peer researchers on research on at-risk and displaced youth.
The role involves collaborating with LSHTM researchers at LSHTM, and partners in Indonesia and international agencies, including the International Labour Organisation. Key responsibilities include: preparing and submitting ethics applications, organising participatory and co-production activities designed for youth, leading systematic reviews and supporting data collection and secondary data analysis, plus co-authoring publications.
The post-holder will be supported by the PI and Co-Is on the Invisible Girls Programme, which is situated in the Gender Violence and Health Centre.
The post-holder should have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree in health, preferably focusing on gender-based violence, with experience in both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis in low-income settings, strong writing and interpersonal skills and an interest in labour exploitation.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 30 June 2026. The post is funded by the Millby Foundation’s funding to the Invisible Girls Programme and is available from 15 May 2025.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,097- £51,156 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM with frequent travel to Indonesia.
