Job at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in Greater London, WC1E

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

The Faculty of Epidemiology & Population Health is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow within The NIHR funded Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Vaccines and Immunisation which is a partnership between the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and LSHTM, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and University College London. We are looking to recruit a medical statistician or an epidemiologist with experience using electronic health records for observational research. The successful candidate will be part of Discipline 1 (Surveillance, Epidemiology, Electronic Health Records Research, Big Data).

The post-holder will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic and experience in leading, designing, analysing and interpreting epidemiological studies using large electronic health record data sets from the UK. The post requires strong data management and quantitative skills with expertise in a common statistical package (e.g., Stata/R). Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension dependent on funding. The post is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research and is available immediately.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £44,847 - £50,808 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.

Applications should be made on-line via our jobs website. Online applications will be accepted by the automated system until 10pm of the closing date. Any queries regarding the application process may be addressed to jobs@lshtm.ac.uk. Please quote reference EPH-EPIH-2025-02.

The supporting statement section should set out how your qualifications, experience and training meet each of the selection criteria. Please provide one or more paragraphs addressing each criterion.
