The University of Lincoln is part of the ‘Team Fisher’ consortium delivering ‘Project Selborne’ for the Royal Navy. Selborne is a strategic 12 year partnership which is responsible for delivering education and training, and associated services, to Royal Navy personnel and, crucially, for modernising those services. The University is the Higher Education partner in Selborne which is a major priority for the University and, along with other capabilities, make it a major player in the provision of HE services to UK Defence.
The University’s contribution to Selborne is wide ranging and includes a team of academics at the Maritime Studies Centre, Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC), Dartmouth plus other Level 4/5 accreditation responsibilities: Leadership (Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) Lympstone); Engineering (Portsmouth); Music (Royal Marines School of Music); and Social Work (Open Programme). In addition, the University is at the centre of the modernisation of Royal Navy education and training, including the provision of HE sector advice and a range of Level 4 and 5 modules to Team Fisher training staff.
The role of the Selborne Programme Manager is to oversee the Selborne contract and manage the Project Team delivering against Selborne’s key deliverables and priorities. The Selborne Programme Manager has a key role in overseeing collaborative dependencies with academic and professional services departments and Team Fisher partners. This includes key relationships with Link Tutors, the Lincoln Academy of Learning and Teaching (LALT), the College of Health and Science and the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. The role also includes the planning and change management work to ensure Selborne is able expand through the modernisation phases of the contract and through wider opportunities that support of the University’s Strategic Plan.
You will have strong leadership, management and inter-personal skills and be able to work independently and oversee a dispersed team. You will require some knowledge and experience of working in Higher Education, in particular with non-standard programmes, and good financial and contract management aptitude. Above all, you need to demonstrate strong judgement and be comfortable working in a highly collaborative manner across organisational and corporate boundaries.
This post will be based at the University of Lincoln’s Riseholme campus with presence at the Brayford Wharf campus and occasional UK travel, in particular to the south coast.
