The Opportunity: A Foundation for Student Success

As a School Administrator in the School of Medicine, you will be the vital link providing comprehensive support to our medical students and academic staff. This role is central to ensuring our medical students receive the exceptional care and guidance necessary for their educational journey.

You will be the first point of contact for the Student Support function, offering empathic assistance to students navigating inquiries and concerns. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Student Support email inbox and addressing routine student enquiries.
  • Coordinating signposting to both internal and external support resources, ensuring students have access to the help they need.
  • Organising and co-delivering wellbeing events and initiatives, contributing to an inclusive and supportive medical school environment.
  • Maintaining awareness of marginalisation issues to foster a welcoming and equitable space for all students.

Key Responsibilities and Career Growth:

Beyond direct student support, your administrative expertise will be instrumental in the smooth operation of the School of Medicine. This includes:

  • Providing extensive administrative support to academic staff, including diary management and coordinating meeting logistics.
  • Facilitating the onboarding of new academic staff by liaising with IT and HR, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Offering full administrative support for internal and external meetings and committees, from agenda preparation to minute-taking and action tracking.
  • Assisting with crucial processes such as GMC accreditation and making arrangements for annual panel visits.
  • Creating and maintaining engaging content across various communication platforms, including websites and learning management systems.
  • Compiling reports on service usage and assisting with financial administrative duties.
  • Clearly communicating University regulations and procedures to students and monitoring their progress.
