What You'll Achieve in This Role:

As a Senior System Engineer at Bilfinger UK, you will be at the forefront of technical project delivery. You will take full ownership of the successful execution of projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with scope, company procedures, budgetary constraints, and timelines. A key aspect of this role involves proactive leadership, including task allocation, supervision, and monitoring of team members' progress. You will act as a vital conduit, advising the Project Manager on project status, risks, and any emerging issues, while collaborating closely with the Project Manager and the engineering team to ensure seamless project progression throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:

  • Technical Project Leadership: Drive the technical execution of projects, ensuring all deliverables meet stringent quality and technical requirements.
  • Project Management Support: Work collaboratively with the Project Manager to manage project scope, identify opportunities, and address risks and issues effectively.
  • Team Mentorship & Development: Allocate tasks to engineering team members, monitor progress, and provide essential guidance and support. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, fostering their growth.
  • Innovation and Efficiency: Champion the identification and implementation of reusable modules through standardization and modularization, and contribute to the prototyping of new technologies.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with Sales and Proposals teams, contributing your technical expertise to shape future opportunities.
  • Health & Safety Advocacy: Lead by example in upholding and promoting the highest standards of Health and Safety.

Essential Experience and Qualifications for Success:

  • A proven track record of managing the full project lifecycle, from initial system specification through design, development, testing, and on-site commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering detailed design documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC and SCADA systems is crucial.
  • A solid understanding of control panels, electrical installation, and instrumentation solutions.
  • A Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or a clear commitment to working towards professional registration is highly valued.

Desirable Experience that will Enhance Your Candidacy:

  • Experience with leading PLC and SCADA platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA, or Ignition.
  • Familiarity with MQTT & IoT Systems.
  • Expertise in Historians and Database Implementation and Management.
  • Proficiency in Ethernet Network design and configuration.
  • Knowledge of IT hardware & Software and virtualised platforms like VMware & ESXi.
  • Understanding of OT Cyber Security principles.
  • Experience with Functional Safety systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Industrial Protocols (e.g., OPC, IEC 61850, Profinet, Modbus).
