Student Services provides a range of student support, information, guidance and development services across the University including, counselling, disability, mental health, financial support and other key services delivered centrally. These teams work closely together (and with other sections of the university) to provide the best possible services to our students, to enhance the student experience, to help students achieve their full potential and to meet the strategic aims of the University. These services are central to the student experience they are visible, seamless, effective and tailored to the needs of our student community.
As a Sexual Violence, Misconduct & Harassment Prevention and Response Coordinator, you will be responsible for the overall development and delivery of the Sexual Violence Liaison Officer (SVLO) service ensuring the provision of trauma informed, individualised, confidential and impartial support for all matters relating to Sexual Misconduct, Violence and Harassment. You will be expected to work dynamically and collaboratively across the university, to develop and sustain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to influence, develop and enhance the support available to our students and staff. You will also assume responsibility for activities relating to prevention and culture change in this area.
You will possess excellent knowledge of the statutory, regulatory and legislative frameworks that apply to sexual violence, misconduct and harassment, including the Office for Students (OfS) Condition of Registration (E6). This will be coupled with an undergraduate degree level qualification and an accredited qualification relating to the area of sexual violence (or have equivalent experience). You will also be highly skilled in the area of safeguarding with experience of managing disclosures and follow internal and external safeguarding processes. You will be successful at building highly effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and adopt an insightful and pragmatic approach to the management of operations across Student Services and the wider university. You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and expectations, demonstrating a commitment to equality of opportunity. The ability to work to deadlines in a busy support service environment is essential.
