Strategic Transport Integration Manager

We are looking for a Strategic Transport Integration Manager to lead the development and delivery of EMR’s Integrated Transport Strategy, enhancing multimodal connectivity across our network.

You will shape how our rail services connect with other transport modes – including bus, tram, cycling, and walking – to deliver seamless, sustainable journeys that better serve our customers and communities. You’ll also play a key role in delivering our Station Vision Programme, defining long-term aspirations for the development of stations across the EMR network.

This role will require close collaboration with regional mayors, local authorities, transport partners, and internal stakeholders to align strategic goals, deliver joint projects, and secure external funding.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of EMR’s Integrated Transport Plan, aligned with national and regional strategies • Build partnerships with local authorities, combined authorities, and transport providers to deliver joined-up travel initiatives • Identify and secure third-party and joint-funding opportunities to support integrated transport and station development • Oversee planning and delivery of projects to improve cycling access, interchange, and wayfinding at EMR stations • Facilitate EMR’s quarterly Integrated Transport Forum and represent EMR at key industry groups such as the Cycle Rail Working Group • Act as subject matter expert for the ‘Integrated’ element of EMR’s Station Vision Programme • Manage and maintain the Station Vision database, KPIs, and reporting systems to monitor progress • Champion integrated transport within EMR by engaging with internal teams and promoting strategy implementation • Work cross-functionally to support funding bids and business cases • Deputise for the Asset Management Development Lead when required • Support EMR’s Sustainability Policy Statement, working in accordance with ISO14001/ISO50001

 

About You

We're looking for a confident communicator and strategic thinker with a passion for integrated, sustainable transport.

You’ll ideally have:

Proven experience in transport planning, infrastructure, or policy deliverySignificant Project Management expertise with APM/PRINCE qualification or equivalent experience.Strong networking abilities and stakeholder engagement skillsExperience working with public sector and transport authoritiesA solid understanding of transport integration, mobility trends, and multi-modal connectivityThe ability to process, interpret and resolve complex informationKnowledge of station planning, interchange design, or active travel (desirable)Familiarity with transport funding mechanisms and securing third-party investmentA proactive, values-driven approach that aligns with EMR’s customer and safety culture
