The job itself

Willerby Carr Lane Primary School is looking to appoint a positive, hardworking, calm and skilled Teaching Assistant Level 3 to join our dedicated and enthusiastic specialist staff team within an Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP) at Willerby Carr Lane Primary. You will be working with a dedicated team of staff to support the complex needs of our ERP children to enable them to improve their communication and interaction, and therefore assist them in engaging and succeeding with their learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within this well regarded and friendly school.

We are looking for an excellent Teaching Assistant Level 3 who can:

Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education / Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.Assist with the planning of learning activities including preparing, maintaining and using equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plan/relevant learning activity and assist pupils in their use.Establish good relationships with pupils by presenting a positive personal image and responding appropriately to individual needs.Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.Attend to children's personal needs and intimate care, including minor first aid and provide advice to assist in the pastoral, social health, physical hygiene development and welfare matters.To assist the teacher to ensure a safe classroom and outdoor environment, checking materials and personal equipment for defects and implement risk assessments carried out by the teacher according to school guidelines. This will include cleaning equipment used by pupils and ensuring its accessibility.To work with the support of external agencies and other personnel working with pupils as required to help children meet their targets.Under the direction prepare classroom for lessons, including displaying work and clearing up afterwards as appropriate.Contribute to the planning cycle, managing and preparing resources, and evaluating and adjusting lessons as directed.Assist the teacher with keeping and updating records.

The successful Teaching Assistant Level 3 will:

Be based in the Enhanced Resource Provision.Have the ability to support children with significant communication and interaction needsBe calm, resilient, patient, non-judgemental, kind and creativeBe highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovativeHave excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills and diverse valuesHave NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or be willing to work towards one.Have a good standard of Maths and EnglishBe able to work as part of a team or also individually when neededBe interested in developing their own knowledge of working with children with additional needs and how best to support them
