Working as part of the SERs technical support team, the Sports Technician provides a comprehensive, immediate, and specialised support service for staff and students within the school. This role is crucial in delivering timely and effective technical support for both research and teaching activities. A Sports Technician works autonomously, demonstrating a higher level of skill and problem-solving ability, while maintaining a safe and compliant working environment. The role also supports the efficient operation of sports facilities, including day-to-day oversight of availability and service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate independently with minimal supervision, using well-developed technical knowledge to solve problems. Escalate complex issues to senior staff when necessary.Plan and carry out activities using a range of techniques, sometimes working from limited briefs, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.Communicate and collaborate with staff, students, visitors, and external stakeholdersOperate, maintain, and assist staff and students with technical equipment. Undertake routine inspection, fault-finding to ensure safe and effective operation of facilities.Understand and implement Health and Safety protocols, risk assessments, and COSHH requirements. Maintain a safe working environment at all times.Person Specification / Required Skills and Experience:
Educated to A-level or equivalent qualification, or possess equivalent relevant experience.Proven experience working in a technical support role.Demonstrable theoretical knowledge in a related technical or sports support area.Experience using complex technical equipment.Good understanding of safety regulations and procedures, including risk assessments and COSHH compliance.Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems effectivelyWhat we can offer in return:
