Founded with a mission to transform lives through education, UEL is at the forefront of advancing careers-first education, preparing individuals for the evolving demands of Industry 5.0. If you are driven by innovation, a passion for fostering meaningful connections, and a commitment to creating a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable future, this role could be your next significant career step.

About the Role:

This position is pivotal in strengthening the University's relationship with its global alumni network. You will be entrusted with the critical responsibility of managing and enhancing UEL's alumni data and communications, with a particular focus on the Graduate Outcome Survey. Key aspects of this role include:

  • Ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and strategic utilization of the alumni CRM system.
  • Supporting essential statutory surveys, contributing to the University's reporting and outreach efforts.
  • Developing and executing segmented, brand-aligned digital communications tailored for a diverse international alumni base.
  • Playing a significant role in the seamless transition of students to graduates, particularly during graduation ceremonies.
  • Leveraging data-driven insights to inform UEL's alumni strategy, fostering lifelong engagement, and supporting institutional objectives such as advocacy and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Contributing to key alumni publications, such as the annual alumni magazine, and collaborating across departments to cultivate stronger relationships.
  • Providing operational support during significant events like graduation ceremonies and the Alumni Big Weekend.

Advantages for Candidates:

This role offers a unique chance to be part of an institution deeply committed to positive societal impact and future-ready education. Candidates will find numerous advantages in pursuing this opportunity:

  • Career Advancement in a Growing Sector: UEL's focus on "industry 5.0 careers-first education" positions this role at the intersection of education and future workforce development. You'll be contributing to a forward-looking strategy with tangible career benefits for graduates.
  • Impactful Work: You will directly contribute to fostering lifelong alumni engagement, which in turn supports the University's mission and future growth. Your work will help shape the perception and continued success of UEL.
  • Data-Driven Environment: For those with a passion for data and its application, this role provides a strong emphasis on data-driven insights, GDPR compliance, and continuous improvement. You'll have the opportunity to refine and implement sophisticated data management and communication strategies.
  • Collaborative Culture: UEL fosters an inclusive and collaborative community. You'll have the chance to work with a diverse range of colleagues, learn from different perspectives, and contribute to a team that is "constantly moving forward, never satisfied with the status quo."
  • Professional Development: The University's commitment to "changing lives through education" extends to its staff. While not explicitly detailed, working within a university setting often provides opportunities for professional growth and learning.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: UEL offers a competitive salary (within the range of £35,453 to £38,827 per annum inclusive of London Weighting) and a robust benefits package, underscoring their commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction.
  • Commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: UEL is a proud advocate for EDI, demonstrated through their Stonewall membership, Athena Swan awards, and status as a disability confident employer. This ensures a supportive and inclusive work environment where all individuals can thrive.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

When considering this role, it's beneficial to reflect on how it aligns with your long-term career aspirations:

  • Data Management & Communications Expertise: If you have a strong foundation in CRM systems, data segmentation, and crafting targeted communications, this role will allow you to deepen and apply these skills in a meaningful context. Developing expertise in alumni relations and higher education communications can be a valuable niche.
  • Strategic Contribution: This role is more than operational; it's about contributing to the University's overarching alumni strategy. Candidates who are proactive, can identify opportunities for improvement, and can articulate the value of alumni engagement will find this role particularly rewarding.
  • Adaptability and Innovation: UEL's focus on "industry 5.0" and a "careers-first" approach suggests an environment that values forward-thinking. Candidates who are adaptable, eager to learn about emerging trends, and can contribute innovative ideas will be well-suited.
  • Working with Recent Graduates: The emphasis on collaboration with the careers service and a focus on recent graduates means you'll be instrumental in supporting individuals at a crucial stage of their early careers. This provides an opportunity to make a direct impact on graduate success stories.
  • Global Reach: The opportunity to manage communications for a global alumni network offers exposure to diverse cultures and international engagement strategies, which can be a significant professional development asset.
