This is a compelling opportunity for forward-thinking, innovative, and curious individuals to contribute to UEL's mission. Joining UEL means becoming part of a dynamic community dedicated to positive change, where collaboration and a passion for making a difference are paramount.

About the Role: Reward Advisor

As a Reward Advisor, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing UEL's reward strategy. This pivotal role within the People & Culture team is responsible for ensuring that the university's approach to pay, benefits, and recognition is consistent, transparent, and equitable. You will provide expert advice across a range of critical areas, including:

  • Pay benchmarking
  • Job evaluation
  • Benefits administration
  • Recognition programs

Furthermore, this position offers significant scope for driving continuous improvement. You will take the lead on vital initiatives such as equal pay and gender pay gap reporting. A key aspect of the role involves collaborating closely with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure that UEL's reward practices remain competitive, compliant with all relevant legislation, and perfectly aligned with the university's core values.

This is a truly hands-on role, offering a fantastic opportunity to:

  • Shape processes: Directly influence and refine how reward is managed at UEL.
  • Deepen expertise: Expand your knowledge and skills in all facets of reward and benefits.
  • Make a tangible difference: Contribute to a progressive, people-centred organization with a clear social mission.

What UEL is Looking For

To excel in this role, UEL seeks a candidate with:

  • Solid Reward & Benefits Experience: Including significant experience in job evaluation and salary benchmarking. Experience within Higher Education or the public sector is highly desirable.
  • Analytical Acumen: You should be detail-oriented and confident in interpreting data to advise on pay structures and support annual pay reviews.
  • Collaborative Approach: A strong ability to build credibility and trust across all levels of the organization, combining technical expertise with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Legal & Policy Knowledge: A good understanding of employment law, occupational pension schemes, and current policy developments to effectively guide and influence stakeholders.
  • Professional Qualification: CIPD or CIPP qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Balanced Skillset: The ability to successfully manage operational delivery while contributing to broader strategic initiatives.

Key Advantages for Your Career Path

This opportunity at UEL presents several distinct advantages for ambitious professionals:

  • Strategic Impact: You will be at the forefront of developing and implementing reward strategies that directly support UEL's ambitious goals for Industry 5.0 education and future careers.
  • Professional Development: The hands-on nature of the role and its focus on continuous improvement provides an excellent platform for deepening your expertise in reward and benefits.
  • Visibility and Influence: Working closely with senior stakeholders and external partners will offer significant exposure and opportunities to influence key decisions.
  • Commitment to EDI: UEL's strong stance on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), demonstrated by achievements like a zero gender pay gap and Stonewall membership, offers a chance to work in an environment that genuinely values fairness and equity.
  • Career Progression: The chance to take your career to the "next level" within a forward-thinking educational institution committed to positive change.

Important Considerations for Candidates

When considering this role, potential candidates should note:
