The Department of Campus Infrastructure wish to appoint a Building Controls Engineer to join the engineering team and report to the Head of Engineering Services.
You will ensure the effective management, control, and support of the University’s various controls systems, including management of support contracts and Controls Supervisors. These controls systems include the Building Management Systems (BMS), various lighting control systems and energy monitoring systems.
The University of Bath has a drive to upgrade the BMS system to ensure we stay a modern campus and this role will be key in managing this project.
In addition, the University is currently the world leader in our chosen lighting control platform, and the continued role-out of this across the campus will be a core deliverable.
You will:
oversee the operation and maintenance of control systems including BMS, boilers, CHP plant, LEV systems, and Lighting systemsassist Craft staff in diagnosing faults and restoring services quickly to minimise downtimelead on planned maintenance programmes and ensure compliance across systemsmanage and work closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient service deliverysupport long-term planning and contribute to risk assessments and technical documentationThe ideal candidate must have:
A recognised engineering qualification on HNC or higher in an appropriate engineering discipline or related subject Relevant qualification or experience in BMS/automated controls related subject for Schneider Sigma, Eco Struxture and Tridium Niagra or similar systems IET 18th EditionRelevant technical experience in larger buildings or commercial facilitiesGood problem solving, customer service and communication skills are a prerequisite of the postThis is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday) but you will be expected to participate in the 24-hour on-call rota for which additional payment is provided.
