Who is the Biodiscovery Institute (BDI)?

The BDI is a dynamic, collaborative research hub that brings together academics from six different Schools across the University. Comprising three buildings, the Institute houses state-of-the-art laboratories and office spaces, providing essential support to over 850 staff and students. This role is specifically situated within the BDI's building support team, in the dedicated goods-in area, playing a pivotal part in maintaining the Institute's operational efficiency.

What the Opportunity Entails:

This is a crucial and hands-on position within a busy goods-in receipting area. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving, organizing, and allocating all consumable equipment and laboratory goods deliveries for the Institute.
  • Coordinating and documenting incoming deliveries.
  • Managing a goods-in desk for the efficient distribution of materials.
  • Handling postal and telephone inquiries.
  • Accurately entering and checking data, primarily using Microsoft Excel.
  • Ordering essential consumables.
  • Providing cover for front-of-house reception duties.
