Are you passionate about shaping the future of global education and research? The University of Surrey, a dynamic and ambitious institution with a clear vision to be among the world's leading universities, is seeking a driven and talented individual to join its International Engagement Office (IEO). This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within a collaborative and empowering culture.

This role is central to the University's global ambitions, focusing on the proactive management and development of strategic international partnerships. If you are looking to elevate your career in international higher education and contribute to life-changing initiatives, this position offers a compelling pathway.

The Opportunity: A Strategic Partnership Manager

As a key member of the International Engagement Office, you will be instrumental in fostering and nurturing vital relationships with international organisations. Reporting to the Associate Director of International Engagement and working closely with the Associate Vice-President (External Engagement), your responsibilities will be diverse and impactful, including:

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with overseas stakeholders, including universities, governments, and funding bodies. You will also work collaboratively with internal academic departments and professional services, coordinating high-level international visits to foster a connected global community.
  • Academic Collaboration Development: Drive the creation and management of academic collaborations with international partner universities. This includes developing innovative initiatives such as dual degree programs and progression arrangements, expanding educational opportunities for students worldwide.
  • Funding Stream Management: Oversee a portfolio of funding streams dedicated to international engagement. This involves managing mobility grants for research students and research collaboration funds for academics, supporting groundbreaking research and international mobility.
  • Secretariat Leadership: Serve as the lead for the secretariat of the prestigious University Global Partnership Network (UGPN). This involves working with distinguished members like North Carolina State University and the University of São Paulo, contributing to a powerful global network.
  • Strategic Insight and Advice: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of international partnership opportunities. You will provide expert advice to leverage these partnerships, ensuring alignment with the IEO's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the University's overarching strategic goals.

This role is critical in identifying and pursuing new avenues for collaborative education, international student recruitment, research output enhancement, and the overall elevation of the University of Surrey's global reputation.

Advantages for Your Career Path:

  • Global Impact: Directly contribute to the internationalisation efforts of a top-tier university, impacting education and research on a global scale.
  • Strategic Development: Gain invaluable experience in developing and managing strategic international partnerships, a highly sought-after skill in the higher education sector.
  • Diverse Collaboration: Work with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders, including academic leaders, government representatives, and prestigious international institutions.
  • Network Expansion: Become a central figure in a significant global partnership network, offering exceptional networking opportunities.
  • Career Advancement: This role provides a strong foundation for progression within international relations, strategic partnerships, and higher education management.
  • Empowering Culture: Be part of a university that values and empowers its employees to make a tangible difference.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • International Higher Education Interest: A genuine interest in and knowledge of international collaborations within Higher Education is essential.
  • Organizational Prowess: The ability to be well-organised and highly effective in managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines is crucial.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: As a central point of contact for diverse stakeholders, strong interpersonal and communication skills are paramount.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: A positive outlook and an excellent customer service mindset will be key to fostering positive relationships.
  • Proactive and Strategic Thinking: Candidates should be adept at identifying opportunities and developing strategic approaches to achieve objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional to drive international engagement and contribute to the continued success of the University of Surrey.
